This project involved the remediation of multiple landslip-affected sites across the Sunshine Coast region following significant weather-related damage. The program of works was delivered across 9 major sites and 54 minor sites, requiring extensive coordination, staging, and resource management across a geographically dispersed network.
Major remediation sites included:
- Kilcoy Beerwah Road
- Peachester Range
- Landsborough Maleny Road
- Maleny Kenilworth Road
- Nambour Mapleton Road
- Woombye Montville Road
Minor works were also completed across:
- All of the Above
- Maleny Montville Road
- Maleny Stanley River Road
Construction deliverables included:
- Earthworks
- Geotechnical stabilisation works including soil nails, rock anchors, mesh installation, micropiles and gabions
- Drainage upgrades
- Pavement reconstruction
- Linemarking
- Guardrail installation
- Landscaping and rehabilitation works
A key challenge of the project was coordinating construction activities and resources across more than 60 active sites simultaneously while maintaining efficient delivery outcomes. Additional complexities arose from the need to monitor active landslip areas throughout construction using inclinometers, groundwater wells, and rainfall data. This information was continually analysed to ensure safe working conditions and to inform project staging and programming decisions.
Through careful planning, strong stakeholder coordination, and adaptive construction methodologies, the project was successfully delivered across all separable portions, restoring safety and resilience to critical sections of the Sunshine Coast road network.
